married for more than 25 years, after having met
at West Virginia University during college. They
have two children, a daughter and son, aged 24 and
22, respectively. John and Elaine are active in the

state and local educational outreach programs.
During
their free time, both enjoy sports a great deal.
They are avid tennis players and have recently taken
up golf. They can often be found at college and professional
sports arenas in the Bay Area cheering on their favorite
hockey or basketball team. Independently, Elaine
is involved with community arts and humanities organizations
and John enjoys hunting and fishing.
John
and Elaine are honored to be recipients of the 2002
