Julie
Young
Julie Young is the
Executive Director of The Florida Online High School. Julie received
her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University
of Kentucky (GO CATS!) and her Masters degree in Administration
and Supervision from the University of South Florida. Julie is
an accomplished presenter and is nationally recognized as a pioneer
in K-12 Distance Learning Education. She recently received the
United States Distance Learning Association 1999 Most Outstanding
Achievement by an Individual Award for K-12 education. Julie has
experience at all levels of K-12 education and focused her teaching
years on interdisciplinary, project-based learning and curriculum
design.
Julie has extensive
experience in staff development, and has managed a variety of instructional
technology projects. More recently she has focused on systemic
change in the educational process and identifying ways in which
innovative technologies may be used to influence and increase student
achievement.
Julie believes that
a great school requires a great, interdependent team of collaborators,
and has established a management philosophy for The Florida Online
High School, which is based on two main principles: All students
can succeed and Success is a team effort!!!
Julie currently serves
on several Distance Learning Task Force teams, including Governor
Bush's Internet Task Force for the state of Florida.
Julie has two boys
with her husband Bruce and spends her time away from the computer
in gyms around the state, also serving as a Florida Basketball
and Volleyball Association Board of Director for South Orlando.
